How to travel to Wadi Rum?

By bus or taxi from Amman
Bus and taxi: Many buses are going to Aqaba and Petra. You can take the JETT or the local bus. We recommend JETT since they are reasonably priced (8 JD to 10 JD one-way to Aqaba), comfortable, with padded seats and air conditioning and leave at set times. The journey takes about 4 hours. Travelling from Aqaba to Wadi Rum can be done by bus or taxi. See ‘By bus or taxi from Aqaba’ for detailed information.

Taxi: Amman to Wadi Rum costs JD 100.

By bus or taxi from Aqaba
Bus: The bus from Aqaba to Wadi Rum leaves the local bus station in Aqaba at between 1 and 3 PM. You should be there well in time to be sure to get a seat as this bus is usually full upon departure. This bus drives all the way to Rum Village. Price: around 3 JD per person. The bus does not run on Fridays. Alternatively, you can take one of the many local buses with other destinations. These buses can drop you off at the highway junction. From there you can hitchhike to Rum village.

Taxi: Aqaba city to Wadi Rum costs 25 JD, from Aqaba South Beach, Tala Bay, the ferry port and Aqaba airport costs 30 JD, and the Aqaba-Eilat border crossing costs 40 JD.

By bus or taxi from Petra

Bus: There is a daily bus which leaves Wadi Musa between 6 and 6.30 AM. The bus arrives in Rum village around 9 AM. A ticket costs 7-10 JD per person. Booking your seat in advance is necessary. Your Petra accommodation can do this for you. The journey takes about 2 hours.

Taxi: Petra to Wadi Rum costs 40 JD.

 

How to travel from Wadi Rum?

By bus or taxi to Aqaba
Bus: You can catch the bus returning to Petra at 8.30 to 9 AM to the highway junction for around 3 JD per person. From there take another bus to Aqaba for 1-2 JD per person.

Taxi: Wadi Rum to Aqaba city costs 25 JD, to Aqaba South Beach, the ferry port, Tala Bay and Aqaba airport costs 30 JD, and the Aqaba-Eilat border crossing costs 30 JD.

By bus or taxi to Petra
Bus: As long as tourists are coming from Petra there will be a bus departing for Petra between 9 and 9.30 in the morning. A ticket costs 7-10 JD per person. The journey takes about 2 hours.

Taxi: Wadi Rum to Petra costs 40 JD.

By bus or taxi to Amman
Bus: Either go to Aqaba or Petra and catch the JETT bus to Amman from there. JETT bus has multiple departures a day from Aqaba to Amman. From Petra JETT bus only has one bus in the late afternoon. The bus from Aqaba to Amman costs 8 to 10 JD and the bus from Petra to Amman 10 JD.

Taxi: Wadi Rum to Amman costs 100 JD.
